Uttar Pradesh’s push towards clean energy, electric mobility and large-scale industrial growth is gaining pace, with the Tata Group playing a key role across power generation, renewables, EV manufacturing and infrastructure development.
Senior leadership from the Tata Group recently reviewed ongoing and upcoming projects with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, highlighting steady progress across multiple strategic sectors that are central to the state’s long-term economic roadmap.
Power Generation Anchors Industrial Stability
A major pillar of Uttar Pradesh’s energy security continues to be the 1,900 MW Bara thermal power plant in Prayagraj, operated in a 360 MW × 3 configuration.
The facility remains critical in meeting the state’s base-load power requirements, supporting industrial expansion and grid stability.
Alongside conventional power, Tata Group is strengthening the state’s renewable portfolio with the development of two 50 MW solar power plants in Bundelkhand and Prayagraj, contributing to cleaner energy generation and reduced carbon intensity.
Rooftop Solar Expansion Across Districts
Decentralised clean energy adoption is also scaling rapidly, with rooftop solar solutions being rolled out across 50 of Uttar Pradesh’s 75 districts. This initiative is expected to enhance energy resilience, reduce transmission losses, and support local consumption of renewable power.
Noida Emerges as a Corporate Growth Hub
On the infrastructure front, construction has commenced on four to five new Tata Group buildings in Noida, reinforcing the city’s role as a major commercial and corporate hub.
These developments are scheduled for phased completion by December 2026, adding to Noida’s growing business ecosystem.
EV Manufacturing and Mobility Ecosystem in Focus
Aligned with Uttar Pradesh’s EV subsidy policy, the Tata Group is exploring the expansion of its vehicle manufacturing footprint in the state.
Discussions included the possibility of establishing dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing capabilities, alongside plans for new EV model introductions.
The review also covered opportunities in electric bus deployment and broader EV ecosystem development, spanning manufacturing, charging infrastructure and mobility services.
Defence Manufacturing Alignment Continues
The engagement further reaffirmed Tata Group’s continued alignment with Uttar Pradesh’s defence manufacturing ecosystem, particularly across key industrial nodes.
This collaboration aims to deepen manufacturing capabilities, strengthen technology integration, and diversify the state’s industrial base.
A Future-Ready Development Model
The discussions highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s integrated development approach, where clean energy expansion, industrial growth and infrastructure development progress simultaneously.
With large corporate investments and policy-backed initiatives moving in tandem, the state is positioning itself as a resilient, future-ready economic engine.
